Frequently Asked Questions

I play left-handed. Can I flip the diagrams?

Yes — open Settings → Left-Handed Diagrams. Every chord chart and fretboard map in the app mirrors instantly.

Can I see flat names instead of sharps?

Turn on Settings → Prefer Flat Note Names and C♯ becomes D♭ everywhere — chips, diagrams, chord tones and search.

How do I back up my practice log?

Go to Settings → Data Management → Export Data. Fretlore creates a JSON backup of your sessions, saved chords and preferences, and hands it to the share sheet — save it to Files, AirDrop it, or send it anywhere you like. Restore it later with Import Data.

The metronome makes no sound.

Check the volume rocker first. The metronome is designed to play even with the silent switch on; if you still hear nothing, make sure no other app is holding an audio call session, then reopen Fretlore.

What does the larger dot in a chord diagram mean?

The larger dots mark the root note — the note the chord is named after. The note names under each diagram show exactly what every string sounds.

Does Fretlore need an internet connection?

No. Every feature — chords, scales, metronome, log and guides — works completely offline. Your data stays on your device; see the privacy policy.
